Another instance of The Eye. I wonder what the artist actually calls the piece, or if it even has a name? Someone told me they work at a tattoo parlor, but this still took me completely by surprise. For some reason I wasn't expecting to see this along Minnehaha Ave in South Minneapoils, although I shouldn't be surprised. He's hit several rail cars and this is just down the street from where I've caught his work more than a couple times.

Just happened across these bare remains of a leaf while on a walking tour of the upper post at Fort Snelling. I wanted to gather it up and preserve it somehow, but was afraid it would disintegrate completely, so left it sit for the next lucky traveler.

Marjorie belongs to some very good friends of mine. She puts up with a lot, but takes it all in stride and is an absolute sweetheart of a cat. I think she's done some modeling in the past, because she was right at home with the camera and let me snap a couple pictures before she got bored and wandered off.

Went for the Upper Post Walking Tour at Historic Fort Snelling a few weeks back. It's a 2-hour, guided walk that covers a surprisingly large area, not just what most folks consider Fort Snelling. The fort was used for many years, from settler/civil-war time on through World War II.

At the Back to the 50's car show this past June they had a GMC Futurliner that you could climb up inside. The side panel opened out to a display stage and the thing had a light bar that raised up an additional 7+ feet over the roof. Even without the light bar, the thing was TALL. Here I'm standing 6 feet off the ground in the cockpit which is accessed through a door built into the nose of the monster. The driver practically sits on top of the engine; an inline 6 cylinder, 145HP GMC 302 motor.

This poor guy has been standing there for years, but he never gives up hope that some day his train might arrive. His stoicism is actually quite admirable.

Another from my quick stop along Nord Myr Park a few weeks back. I'm lucky I got this shot. I had bent down to get a completely different photo and saw this as I stood up. Just the one particular angle that didn't work moving 3 feet in any direction.

I've passed this building countless times over the years and have always been curious about the pipes coming out of the ground. Do they lead into the ground, or out of? Some of each? There's a sign on the building that says Energy Park Center, but that doesn't really help much. I think it's a special air pump facility to keep the Earth (the whole planet) inflated. I'm sure it's not the only such facility around, but without them we'd go sailing through space making that thptpt noise that balloons make when you let them go.
