One of the dwindling number of classic neon signs along the Mississippi riverfront in Minneapolis -- yet the sign itself isn't actually a classic. Part of the old milling district, the Gold Medal Flour building was constructed around 1906. The original sign was lit by standard lightbulbs and the neon version was installed (I believe) around 1998 as part of the Mill City Museum which now owns the site. The sign is spectacular at night, but in a way I like this picture better than a standard neon beauty shot. The yellow cast comes from the window I shot through when I was at a show in the Dowling Studio at the Guthrie Theater.
